you were being taken until you reached their
destination. That was how they worked, as far

The fact that he didn’t remember much except
something about a Christmas present then being
stuck worried her a bit. Though she wasn’t sure if
she should tell him that according to the note she
got he was supposed to be a present to her.

Lal responded then moved over after pulling out a knife
, knelt down and started cutting the binds that were holding
him. She had no idea how on earth Squalo had decided of all
things to get her Colonello for a Christmas present. Not that
she was going to tell the man in question about it…just yet.</sub>

Colonello would have thought he was saved by Lal rather than be brought to her, because what for? He had assumed that the Varia was asking for a ransom as their Christmas present, otherwise what else could they be planning —

“What — ?” He is fully awake now, turning to Lal as she cuts his binds. Now he feels better, flexing his arms from their stiffness. “What’s that supposed to mean…?” He actually does have an idea what it means, but…

But the blond still seemed confused so she bit her
bottom lip a little bit, keeping herself crouched and
looking at him.

     “ I’m saying you could be a Christmas present
for someone, like mine. But maybe they decided against
it and dropped you off here instead ”.

If he managed to believe that then she considered
herself a pretty good actress. If not, well she was
sure she had some explaining to do. Namely how
he was decided by the Varia to be her Christmas
present.

    “ Do you want something to eat? Drink? ”.
